Lead by example ...

What do you think black women were doing when Black men were being beaten and lynched upon arriving to this country as slaves? Hmnnn?

Yoko Ono said that women were the “niggers” of the earth… according to that rationale… what does that make Black women? I ask my brothers this question so that we hold ourselves personally accountable and responsible for being absent during this Black movement that is so powerfully… NON-EXISTANT! I am noticing that Black males (MEN stand and protect, and hold themselves to a level of accountability that clearly shows the highest level of respect for their female counterpart) want all of the praise that comes with being strong Black men… with NONE of the work. Not only are we not doing the work…we are UN-DOING any work that has been done. Imagine the work that the leaders of the 60’s and 70’s did as a bank account… and every time those leaders needed to withdraw from that account, it had a positive balance…because they were constantly making deposits. Then we have a 35 year silence in the movement. We go 35 plus years not making any significant deposits into that account… but somehow Black men are surprised to find that there is nothing to draw from when we show up at our bankrupt and overdrawn institution. That’s because not only are we not doing the work… but we are poisoning our Black communities, and warping the images that international communities have of us…WORLD WIDE!!!

As Black men, it is absolutely imperative that we reclaim our rights to stand and fight for our Black women, that we stand and fight for our Black families, that we stand and fight for our Black communities, that we stand and fight for the ownership of our talents and abilities, that we stand and fight for equal human rights for all Black people… that we as Black men understand that our number one goal is to do what white America fears so much, and that is to put ourselves back together as one unified Black community to realize and exercise our social, economic, spiritual and historical strength!

Black women get it! Have you navigated around the female Blogosphere? Go to:

Black women are all over the truth. Black women are calling it like it is… unapologetically, with so much insightful honesty, that I get both inspired and disappointed. Inspired…because black women have always been the teachers and trailblazers willing to earn battle-scars to defend their black men and children. Disappointed… because Black males refuse to stand on the front lines in truth and wisdom to defend against and overcome or oppressors and give our women the much needed break from soldiering up stronger than we have, to finally be women. Loved, protected and respected…PERIOD!!!

What would Dr. Khalid Muhammad say if he were here today? We have to get busy Brothas!!!

Don’t talk about it… BE about it!

i pray that our men will hear, stand, turn, and move powerfully in the right direction. i am hopeful and encouraged by your presence that it is not too late to turn this around.

be encouraged, stand firm, and speak the truth without compromise. conscious sisters have been wondering when you and those like you would stand up and be counted. thank you for your courage.
